Well National Bike to Work Week is almost over and I’ve only managed to ride home from work twice and to work once. For me that is not so good as I could usually do that on any given week. I was hoping to make the trip under my own power a few more times than that.

Here in Central Missouri, biking to work is not that common, but its growing. With gas prices up to $3.19 for the cheap gas today I think biking to work is a lot more appealing. Still a lot of people that could bike to work simply don’t ever try it. Its fun, its healthy, it saves the environment, and it doesn’t cost a dime.

PedNet in Columbia Missouri does all sorts of things for Bike to Work Week which they expand to be Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week. They include all pedestrians including wheelchairs (which I think is often overlooked) They do a kick off breakfast on Monday every year. They have guided rides, they have shirts, flyers, and all sorts of other things to get the word out. This is all very good. This is what needs to happen everywhere. Of course there are lots of other bicycle clubs in Missouri that do all sorts of fun things this week, this month, and all year long so check them out.

Did anyone else manage to ride, walk, or wheel to work this week? Lets hear your trials and tribulations of getting to work or anywhere else under your own power.
