Team Astana has been barred from racing in the 2008 Tour de France. The powers that be are saying it is due to a tarnished team image.
Levi Leipheimer has a site setup called Let Levi Ride. Everyone should go there and sign the online petition to allow him to race.
I’ll post more on this subject after I get some more details. In the mean time go sign the petition.

Glad to see you posted this, Bradley. I was at the Tour of CA (Sacramento), and Astana’s barring was the talk of every booth. He has a tremendous amount of support. Is it time for the cyclists to form a union and strike?
This is the first time the TdF has not invited the previous year’s winner! Probably because the now-international Astana team doesn’t have a French contender. The team includes Alberto Contador, 2007 Winner of the TdF.
Hey cyclists and fans, sign his petition, too:

@Dana - Thanks for that link to Contador’s petition site. I didn’t know he had one going as well.
This entire fiasco jsut goes to show how political the sport of cycling especially in Europe really is.

Levi is the number one cyclist in the U.S. His competitive spirt really came through on the final stage of the TdF. Boycott the Tour if Levi is not in it.

@Mark - I totally agree with you. It will be interesting to see how this is all going to play out. I think for cyclists in the U.S. anyway they are doing more harm to their TdF image than good with these measures to protect their image.
