I was on the STLbiking forums the other day and someone had posted a topic about a Missouri Bicycle Federation grassroots effort to continue the Katy trail to Kansas City.
The goal of the project is to complete the Katy Trail from Kansas to Illinois. This could have the effect of increasing cycling in and around the state by a large amount. People travel from all across the county to bike down one of the largest Rails-to-Trails projects in the country. Making it bigger and extending its reach into more communities only makes it better.

So, please go to http://mobikefed.org/CompleteTheKaty and complete the form to send a personalized e-mail to Ameren, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, and the Attorney General to let them know you to want the Katy Trail Completed.

This information was provided by Travis DeMoss. He is coordinating this event. If you would like to participate you can contact me via the contact page or stop by Pro-Velo Cycle Sport for more details. I will post more details as I get them on the site as well. There is a small but eager group of people who are interested in riding the Katy Trail from end to end. The date is set for Sept 15 thru the 18. [click to continue…]

When bicycle and pedestrian safety was taught when she was in school (it wasn’t that long ago…my mom will appreciate that) they said it was safer to see the cars coming instead of riding with the flow.

I have occasionally seen individuals doing this and most of the time they are either older or part of the immigrant population. I have also noticed that drivers don’t really know [click to continue…]

I’ve been trying to convince my girlfriend to get a bicycle for some time now. I’ve just about accomplished this and we have even gone and looked at some bikes. There are a lot of options when it comes to picking out a bicycle and getting started with cycling these days. So read on and maybe this will provide a little assistance with getting started. If you’re trying to get your girlfriend or boyfriend to bike you can force them to read this and it may save you the trouble. So here we go. [click to continue…]
